Some of us reading this may not realize that before email, there was just the United State Post Office delivering our precious mail thru rain, sleet, snow and dogs with bad attitudes. And even if it took them 50 years (yep, it really happened) they would deliver you’re mail to whomever was still alive by then. Well, the post office still delivers mail, but now we have options … yes, I’m talking about email, which has revolutionized the way we send and receive mail.

I admit it .. I LIKE trivia, tho it serves no purpose for me since I can never remember any to bring up in conversation. But still, it is fun, so I’ve created this list of amazing trivia that I found to be absolutely riveting.

1. Snails can sleep up to 3 years.
Not so amazing actually since I managed to sleep thru 6 years of jr. high and high school. And when you think about it, what do snails have to do all their lives? Sure, they leave great slime trails and make excellent targets for salt shakers and little boys, but other than that there’s not much more to do but sleep after an exhausting run across a sidewalk.

If you are over forty, and have not realized that your mind is leaving you, perhaps the circumstances or situations have not been favorable to cause you to notice this phenomena.

For me, a ride on a barren interstate, car set in cruise and the radio playing oldies music provides the perfect setting for a mind-losing experience.

I first discovered that my mind was disassociating from the rest of my body about a decade ago while traveling with my dad and son. The two of them and I (in body only), were on our way to Columbus on I 70, well into the state of Ohio. My mind however was well behind, still on the PA Turnpike, somewhere around Somerset, I’m guessing.

I had no idea that I had lost my mind until we stopped at a McDonald’s restaurant along the way. The breakfast crowd was at its peak and you could see that the workers looked a little frazzled and anxious. With no deadline to make in Columbus, I was my usual impatient, in a hurry, let’s get moving, self. But….

If you are growing older, you no doubt are also growing weary of the number of times you are asked to fill out various forms. You don’t have to be a baby boomer to know what I am referring to. The longer we are around, the older we get, the greater the number of forms we have to fill out. I am getting tired of it.

It takes more time filling out medical forms than it does to have the examination. And it takes longer to fill out your IRS tax return than it does to spend the money you earned in that calendar year.

When Laugh-In became a big hit for NBC, the producers of CBS decided they needed something similar. At the time, there were a wide variety of country themed shows running on the network, including Gunsmoke, Mayberry RFD and The Beverly Hillbillies. Since these shows were popular, the idea of a show similar to Laugh-In, only with a country theme was conceived. Out of that conception, Hee Haw was born. It had plenty of hay and straw stacks, denim overalls, dancing pigs, sketch comedy and hilarious jokes, along with gags and corn patch scenes.

Why does so much luggage get lost at airports? And how can you prevent it?

Since the beginning of time, man has been dreaming of flying. On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright turned that dream into a reality when he flew a plane 120 feet in 12 seconds. Today, with jets cruising at speeds of Mach 0.8 (Mach 1 is the speed of sound), man sits in airport terminal buildings — “canceled” and “delayed” — still dreaming of flying. Why is that?
